Run a full mock exam
Standalone, full-length exams any student on Vidyara can take — sections with their own marking, a strict timer, and ranked results.
On this page· 3 sections
Open Mock Exams in the left menu (institutes too). These are separate from a course’s Test series: any student can take them, not only your enrolled students — a great way to be found. Exams are built and taken on a laptop or desktop.
01Build it
- 1
Create the exam
Name it, type who it’s for in your own words (JEE Main, NEET, GPSC Class 1-2, IBPS PO, Class 10…) — this is needed, because it’s how the exam is recommended to students, and the form shows which students it will reach as you type — set the duration, and choose Anytime (a practice mock) or At a fixed time (opens and closes like the real exam).
- 2
One paper, or sections
Keep it as one paper with one marking for the whole exam, or divide it into sections — Physics, Chemistry, Maths; or Reasoning, Quant, English — each with its own marking: the marks for a right answer, and the negative marking as a % of them (25% of 4 marks is −1). You can switch later until you publish.
- 3
Free or paid
Last, keep it free or set a price (₹10 to ₹10,000). You see what you earn on each sale as you type.
- 4
Add questions
One right answer, one or more right answers, or a numerical answer with a ± range. Add a solution — students see it with their result. A question can have its own marking (e.g. no negative marks on numericals).
- 5
Or reuse saved questions
You have one question bank: every question you write or import in an exam is saved there, along with the questions from your course tests. Reuse opens it — search, tick the ones you want and add them to the section. They take its marking, and editing a question in an exam never changes the bank’s copy.
- 6
Admins: import a file
For Vidyara’s admins (the official exams), Import reads a JSON file into a section. MCQ upload files work as they are; add a "type" of MCQ_MULTI or NUMERICAL for other kinds. Template downloads an example. Teachers write questions in or Reuse saved ones.
- 7
Publish
Use Preview to see the student page first. Publishing locks the questions and marking so every candidate is marked the same way; until someone starts or buys it, Move to draft unlocks it.
| Exam | Usual marking |
|---|---|
| JEE Main, NEET | +4 / −1 |
| Bank PO, SSC prelims | +1 / −0.25 |
| UPSC prelims | +2 / −0.66 |
| CTET, TET | +1 / 0 |
02Selling an exam
- A paid exam is bought once, then taken once — like buying a course. Students pay with Razorpay on the exam’s page.
- Vidyara keeps its commission — the same 15% as on courses, with Razorpay’s payment charges paid out of it — shown beside the price as you set it; the rest goes to your Wallet the moment a student pays (an institute’s exams pay the institute’s wallet), and to your bank with your weekly payout, like course earnings.
- To publish a paid exam, your teacher profile must be approved (an institute, verified) — the same as selling a course.
- You can change the price — or switch between free and paid — any time, even after publishing, in Settings. A new price is for new buyers: students who already bought it keep it. Once someone has bought it, the exam stays published, and it can’t be deleted while a buyer hasn’t taken it yet.
- Exams from the Admin console — Vidyara’s official mocks — can be free or paid too. Their sales go to Vidyara: there’s no teacher’s share.
03Results
- Choose whether students see their result right after submitting, or — for a fixed-time exam — after it closes, when everyone is told their result is out.
- The Results tab shows how many took it, the average and highest score, section averages, the leaderboard (tap a student to see their whole paper) and how many got each question right.
- Each student gets one attempt. The timer is kept on the server and the paper is submitted when it runs out.
